Wool Insectproofing with Surface-Active Agents Part I. Anionics and Anionic-Cationic ComplexesDivision of Textile Industry, C.S.I.R.O. Wool Research Laboratories Geelong, Victoria, Australia
Division of Textile Industry, C.S.I.R.O. Wool Research Laboratories Geelong, Victoria, Australia The insectproofing effects of various classes of surface-active agents applied to wool have been studied. Nonionic compounds had little insectproofing effect. Both anionic and cationic compounds were effective alone, but not in combination. A linear C14-15 alkylbenzene sulfonic acid gave the most effective and durable protection and may be applied by dyebath or padding methods.
