Results of thermally-stimulated discharge currents from polarized cotton and viscose rayon, for different polarizing conditions, have been given. Definite evidence of field-induced polarization has been found. Depolarization kinetics data—viz. activation energy, relaxation time, etc.—for the process responsible for polarization or depolarization have been presented. Glass-transition temperatures of dry cotton cellulose and viscose rayon were found to be ~305°C and ~310°C, respectively. Cotton cellulose does not degrade even at 350°C, whereas degradation in viscose rayon starts at ~340°C.
