Effect of Dust-Control Additives on the Open-End Spinning Performance of CottonCSIRO Division of Textile Industry, Belmont, Victoria 3216, Australia The effect of small amounts of dust-suppressant additives in processing cotton into open-end spun yarns was examined. Additives applied batchwise or continuously in the blowroom substantially reduced total and respirable dust levels in carding; how ever, all additives also reduced OE yarn strength and extensibility and markedly increased rotor deposit rates.
