The structure sensitivity of the critical dissolution behavior of polyester filaments in Phenol/TCE solution was examined. Macromolecular orientation and crystallinity appear to influence the critical dissolution time only in the case of oriented and crystalline polyester materials, while orientation alone without crystalline order. or crystallinity alone without macromolecular orientation, shows negligible influence on dissolution behavior. Solvent diffusion appears to differ from dye diffusion in its structure sensitivity. Dye diffusion cannot be directly correlated with solvent diffusion because of differences in their structure sensitivities.
