A small roller rolling on the surface of the package was mounted on the tip of a presser of the test flyer as a winding speed sensor. Using this measuring device, the effects of the winding draft ratio (the winding speed of roving to the package divided by the delivery speed of roving from the front roller) on the roving weight per unit length at the package were investigated. Results show reasonably good correlation.
