A Simple Apparatus to Measure Water Vapor Resistance of Textiles

An apparatus has been constructed to measure the water vapor resistance of textiles and other permeable fabrics. The samples are sandwiched between microporous mem branes but are not compressed. The reliability of the apparatus is shown by measuring the vapor resistance of air layers. In practice, a textile sample can be tested within half an hour with an accuracy of 1% or better.
