A device composed of a mechanical dynamometer and optical sensor coupled with image analysis software is designed to provide powerful tools to study the evolution of the nonwoven structure under stress. Images of the samples are recorded before undergoing mathematical analysis, and various parameters are calculated. The evolu tion of these parameters provides original information on the mechanical behavior of complex nonwoven materials.
